Labsticc laboratory


Telecom Bretagne has opened a new CNRS laboratory called Labsticc, Information and Communication Science and Technology Laboratory, in partnership with UBO and UBS. It will be managed by Alain Hillion, scientific director at Telecom Bretagne.

Resulting from the grouping of the four teams working at Lest, Lester, Sabres and Tamcic, there are 280 people working at Labsticc, including 130 research lecturers, 110 PhD students and a dozen post-doctoral researchers and contractual employees.

It unites three poles working within one central theme: “From sensors to knowledge ».
The three poles are as follows:

  • MOM : micro-waves and materials;
  • CAC : communications, architecture and circuits ;
  • CID : knowledge, information, decision.

The laboratory, under the title UMR 3192, is attached to department ST2I of the CNRS (section 08 and 07).

Claude Berrou, inventor of turbocodes, professor in the Electronics department at Telecom Bretagne and member of the Académie des sciences since December 11 2007, has been appointed scientific adviser to Labsticc.
