The Electronic Engineering Department uses modern techniques for the design of electronic functions in order to carry out the missions of lecturing and research.
Regarding lecturing, the department is mainly involved in the field of Electronics and Physics in the different curriculum offered by the college. The department has the means to carry out computer aided design (CAD) and has access to state-of-the-art test equipment made available to the engineering students in the final-year "Engineering and system integration" option.
The research activities of the department cover channel coding, turbo-communications, realization of analog functions for a detection chain, modelling and simulation of radio-communication channels.
The Electronic Engineering Department and the Signals & Communication Department forms the Pôle de Recherche Avancée en Communications (PRACom - Pole for Advanced Research in Communications). PRACom was created in order to contribute to research in the field of Information and Communication Science and Technology. It has been established on Telecom Bretagne campus in Brest.
It contributes to the research activities of the Laboratory for the Algorithmic and Material Processing of Communication, Information and Knowledge (TAMCIC) at Telecom Bretagne, CNRS unit FRE 2658. It is also involved in the network of excellence NEWCOM (Network of Excellence in Wireless COMmunications) financed by the European Union.
