Computer Science Department

The Computer Science  Department comprises a team of some 25 members, 20 of them being lecturers/researchers. Currently, 12 PhD students are conducting their research work, full time or part time, in the department.

Our research activity combines academic research with applications of this academic research to practical domains; most of our practical research is collaborative with industry.

The department is responsible for managing the Computer Science syllabus for all student-engineers at Telecom Bretagne, whatever their final specialization. The aim is to cover the essential material required by all telecommunication engineers, so all the main strands of computer science, including programming (JAVA and C), software engineering, architecture and basic CS theory, are addressed. The CS department teaches courses for the pre-doctoral degree in Computer Science which is coordinated by the Université de Rennes.

Professors and lecturers also offer several professional development courses, in the areas of object oriented methodologies (UML, Java, C++), operating systems and networking (UNIX,Windows 2000, Linux, Solaris, Rtems, Corba, IP, ATM, …), extranet and intranet conception and design (XML, ...).
