As a shop til you drop freak, does it not drive you mad to get to the shop only to be told that the article you have hunted down is no longer in stock? Two students from Telecom Bretagne have created a buzz by coming up with “Shopping Adventure”, a mobile application that lets you know in real time exactly what your favorite shops have in stock. A small revolution in mobile location-based shopping !
The Shopping Adventure mobile application
With this application the user can use his/her smart phone to know the daily contents of shops and their partner brands. For now, there are 4 referenced trademarks (Promod, Etam, Rene Derhy and RG512). This represents more than 1,000 stores in France. Cop Copine, Best Mountain and Pimkie are currently being added. The objective for the brand is to generate qualified traffic in stores.
The free application (available at the Apple Store and soon on other platforms) allows you:
- to browse by brand, by map, by category, by sex, size or color;
- to register the products in a basket;
- to call the store, locate it and find a route to get there;
- to share your findings on twitter, facebook.
The Kbrw Ad-Venture company
The mobile application was developed by KBRW Ad-Venture, set up in September 2009 by four partners: two engineering students from Telecom-Bretagne and two graduates of the University of Paris, Dauphine. The strange name of the start-up stands for the initials of the founders: David Krief, Jerome Benoliel, Philippe Romano (3rd year engineering student at Telecom Bretagne), Arnaud Wetzel (graduate of Telecom Bretagne). The company is located in the Marais district in Paris, but is also present on a half-time basis in the Telecom ParisTech incubator because working alongside other start-ups is very stimulating. From the start, the startup has received funding from the Oséo label. The team’s project is to add new brands of menswear in the mobile application and also to develop business in Europe. The potential is huge!
