Tuesday, May 24, in the Hall of Mirrors at the Jouffroy passage, Paris, Alten announced the names of the three finalists in its first competition for mobile applications for Id’Mobile. The aim of the competition was to uncover new talent. Aimane El Ouafin, Yassine Mouncef and Xiwen Jiang, 2nd year engineering students won the second prize with Troféo, an application for restaurants!

This Android application simplifies interaction with restaurants, it is dedicated to taking customers’ orders. From their mobiles, customers have access to the restaurant. They see the prices and any special offers and can place their order and pay directly. The jury noted “the high quality of their technical achievement that has reached the stage of possibly being used by an actual restaurant. The three students were accompanied throughout the development phase of the project by Yohan Painchaud, project manager at Alten Rennes. They each won an iPad tablet.

The Contest

Of the 90 applications submitted for the first competition for students, 11 were selected for the development phase. Each team selected received a half-day technical training period on the methodology of Scrum project management and were accompanied throughout the development phase by Alten technical coaches. A jury then selected the winners, using four criteria: creativity, innovation, technical quality and usefulness. The first prize was awarded to the INPde Grenoble, the second to British Telecom and the third to the group made up off students from Ecole des Mines d’Alès, University of Technology of Compiegne and the University of Lyon .
