On September 1st, Paul Friedel leaves Orange Labs R&D in order to succeed André Chomette at the head of Télécom Bretagne.

A career dedicated to industrial research in information technology

Polytechnician (1976), PhD in Solid State Physics (1987), « Général Ferrié » Grand Prix in Electronics (1996), Paul Friedel began his professional career with the Research department of Philips France.

After a post-doctorate at Bell Labs (USA), he joined the office of the director of Research at Philips in Eindhoven. In 1994 he became director of Development at Philips Electronics and in 1997, president of the LEP , Philips Research Laboratory in France.

En 2002, Paul Friedel joined Diebold as vice-president in charge of R&D into banking ATMs, security systems and electronic voting.

In 2004, « e-San Ltd », the British company specialising in auto-surveillance systems for the chronically ill, entrusted him with the analysis of the French market for their products.

Since 2005, Paul Friedel has been working for France Télécom, as head of Orange Labs R&D.
