From 20th May to 30th June at Télécom Bretagne in Brest

Yves-Marie Péron, 2010

Télécom Bretagne is pleased to welcome painter Yves-Marie Péron from 20 May to 30 June, for an exhibition of his recent paintings.

The exhibition is called « bonjour Yves-Marie », as a tribute to the ritual greeting he got when arriving at the Galerie Saluden in Brest, where he regularly held exhibitions. Too few people have seen Yves-Marie Péron’s work in Brest, despite its quality and diversity. This important exhibition was the initiative of Jean-Pierre Dauvillier, another artist from the old Galerie Saluden.

“… I’m never looking for perfection; quite the opposite, too much skilfulness is harmful… I don’t want it to be too slick-looking; I want it to be real. You have to know how to leave something missing, a kind of uncertainty, or even clumsiness. What’s most important to me is the balance between elements and mass, which doesn’t exclude the unexpected, or certain forms of excessiveness. I think that voids, silences, places that are not painted… these are all essential. You have to let the relationships between things on the canvas really come alive, listen to them when they happen, respect them or fix things so that they come out even better. I’m just the “great organizer” in all this, the organizer of a world that comes together little by little on the canvas. That’s also why I speak about simplicity…”

Find out more: Free entry, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Exhibition opens Thursday, 27th May, with the artist present, in the centre-vie (great hall) of Telecom Bretagne.
