The Systèmes innovants pour personnes dépendantes(Innovative Systems for Dependent Relatives) team from the Computer Science Department of Télécom Bretagne, imagines technical solutions which improve the everyday life of elderly or dependent people in order to give them more autonomy.

These projects are the fruit of co-operation between computer scientists of the school and sociologists from UBO (l’Université de Bretagne occidentale). Web, telephone and internet videophone technologies are used via recent television developments, Thanks to this system, elderly or dependent relatives can have access to news(daily audio newspapers for example) and can communicate with family (mail, photos and videos) by simply using their television. We should also add that the team is developing tele-assistance, tele-alarms and home automation.
